In December Martin Hughes of Manchester England was on vacation with his two little girls, Poppy and Isabella, when a lightbulb went off. He noticed the dark hallways in the hotel and he had an idea. Now that his girls are 4-years old, he knew he could finally make a lifelong dream come true.

If you are thinking of The Shining then you are correct. And this wasn’t something that he thought about on a whim. Martin had been waiting for this moment since he and his wife found out that they were going to have twin girls.

In the movie, the little boy Danny comes around the corner on his Big Wheel and meets the creepy twin girls in their matching dresses. Hughes always wanted to recreate the moment with his girls. He was just waiting for the perfect moment.
A Life Long Dream

“When my wife and I found out we were having identical twin girls, ‘The Shining’ popped into my head,” he told The Huffington Post. “It’s my number one film and that one scene of Danny turning the corner on his Big Wheel is a real moment.”
This Is The Moment

This was his chance. He would be able to recreate the moment, but only if he could just get the girls to stand still for a minute. He dressed them in identical dresses and starting shooting the scary photos.
Lights, Camera…. STAND STILL!

He succeeded, but it wasn’t easy.
“Getting the twins to stand still, hold hands and look somber is impossible,” he said. “It’s like herding cats. Just asking them to look sad automatically makes them laugh.”

In just a few days the original post now has more than 6,000 retweets and 19,000 likes. Some people on Twitter thought that the picture was hilarious. Others thought it was creepy and many called him a bad dad for “making” his kids do the shoot. Everybody calm down!
The Girls Had No Clue

But the girls weren’t scared when they were taking the pictures. They actually didn’t even know what they were recreating. They were just doing the photoshoot to make their dad happy.
“I’ve told them they have great power to make grown people cry if they pull this pose in a hotel hallway,” Hughes said. “But they don’t get it yet.”
Not The First Time

While this picture went viral, he admits that this is not his first time he has tried to pull this prank. He has had the girls pose in hallways at hotels to try to spook other visitors before. “People that have seen them have let out an ‘Ohhhh!!’ and stopped in their tracks not blinking.”

Martin also said that all the pranking going on in their family has rubbed off on the girls. “The twins have started pranking us,” he said. “We dress them in blue for Bella and pink for Poppy so we can quickly see who is who, but now they’re swapping clothes and names, so we’ll be talking to one of them and she’s smirking and you start to realize that something’s not quite right.”

I hope that those girls never watch that movie. I wish I never watched it myself! Those girls may have looked cute before reading this article, but all I can think about is those two little terrors saying, “Hello Danny."
