
Taking off their hats to Bollywood mainstream stars, the 65th National Film Awards recognized the contribution of the late Vinod Khanna and Sridevi, by honoring them with the Dadasaheb Phalke and Best Actress Award respectively.

Shekhar Kapur who is feature film jury head while announcing Sridevi’s name, who also directed her in Mr. India (1987) said the actor was the most deserving candidate. Sridevi gained the award for her role in of an angry mother seeking justice for her daughter in the rape-revenge drama, Mom 2017. Kapur said, “The title was not because of the relationship we shared, but because she was the most deserving candidate for her portrayal in Mom.”

Meanwhile, Baahubali: The Conclusion bagged the Best Action, Best VFX, and Best Telugu Film awards and A.R Rahman won the Best Music Direction category by winning the Best Songs for the Tamil Film, Kaatru Veliyidai and also the playback singer of this song won the award for best PlayBack Singer.
Choreographer Ganesh Acharya won the National Award for Best Choreography in the movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Actress Bhumi Padnekar congratulated Ganesh Sir for winning the Award.
Also, Actor Rana Daggubati swept the National Award for, Baahubali, and for his movie The Ghazi Attack, Best Telugu Film.
Amit V Masurkar director of Newton film won the Award for Best Feature Film In Hindi.
